Virginia Margaret (Rasmussen) Barton, 93, of Ocala Florida passed away at home on May 31, 2023. She was born on December 30, 1929, and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Iowa, Missouri, and California, before settling in Orlando, Florida with her husband, Paul in 1962. She moved to Ocala in 2014.She spent over thirty years as a teacher, primarily for children with special learning needs. In her retirement she volunteered as a Master Gardener, and enjoyed many outdoor activities.She was an avid biker and camper. She was especially involved with the Florida Trail Association as a hiker and trail maintainer. She spent many a Winter Wednesday Hike with her daughter—in-law Beth and youngest grandchild, Stephanie. Her “Feet” cookies were a common donation to meal events, and always advised to “leave no bench un-sat.”
