- abec[at]floridatrail.org
Abe is a passionate outdoorsman and dedicated advocate for the Florida Trail. Growing up in Gainesville, he developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Florida, spending countless hours exploring its woods and swamps.
After a successful career in retail, Abe turned his attention to the outdoors, volunteering his time and skills to support the Florida Trail Association (FTA). He has been instrumental in various roles within the organization, including Project Manager, Technical Advisor, and Operations Manager.
Now serving as the Acting Executive Director of the FTA, Abe is committed to leading the organization into a future where the Florida Trail is fully realized. He envisions a trail system free of roadwalks, where hikers can fully immerse themselves in nature. To achieve this ambitious goal, Abe will leverage the power of community through crowdsourcing fundraisers and partner with local organizations to create more events like the Florida Trail Fest.
Personally, Abe aims to continue pushing his limits as an ultrarunner, participating in events like the 100-mile Forgotten Florida. He is also eager to spend more time on the trail, working alongside volunteers and attending chapter meetings to foster a stronger, more connected trail community.
By combining his passion for the outdoors, his leadership skills, and his commitment to the FTA's mission, Abe is poised to make a significant impact on the future of the Florida Trail.
