A comprehensive linear guide to the entire Florida National Scenic Trail, The Florida Trail Guide is your resource for hike planning. Including not just the FNST but major connectors such as the Ocean to Lake Hiking Trail and the Eastern Continental Trail route in Florida, it encompasses trail features and services spanning from Key West to Pensacola Beach. Use it to plan a weekend, a week, or an entire end-to-end hike across Florida. Details are derived from the authors’ personal knowledge of the trail and ongoing research on changes along it while continually updating the FarOut Guides Florida Trail app. Data charts and mileage markers are derived directly from the app as of August 2024. No radical relocations of the trail have occurred since the prior edition, but many new designated campsites and near-trail camping opportunities have been added as well as crucial new infrastructure like the Devil’s Creek bridge in Richloam. New lodgings now make zero days easier in some of the more rural parts of the state. Services are updated throughout, both in the text and on the town maps. All regional maps reflect the most current route of the trail.

Mileages and the overall flow of the book are based on a typical thru-hiker route from Big Cypress to Fort Pickens, with alternate routes fully detailed throughout. Side trails connecting to the FNST are included in the back of the book, along with appendices that detail maildrop locations, stove fuel availability, and outfitters.
