Backcountry permits are no longer required in Big Cypress National Preserve. This change helps simplify access to one of the wildest sections of the FT. However, please note: permits are still required to hike across the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation. Reminders for Big Cypress hikers:
• Sign the hiker logs at Oasis and I-75 Trailhead. This helps with safety and trail stewardship.
• Leave a note in your vehicle with your itinerary if parking at the trailhead.
• Practice Leave No Trace: Pack it in, pack it out. Stay on trail. Respect wildlife. Minimize campfire impact.
